Villarreal striker Thierno Barry is now waiting for his move to Everton to be finalised while on holiday in Miami.

That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who report that the striker is waiting in Miami as everything indicates he’ll be joining Everton this summer.

The newspaper reports that the Toffees have accelerated their efforts to sign the striker in the last few hours and it is very likely he will now miss the start of pre-season with Villarreal.

Unless there are unexpected changes in the deal, he will leave the club this summer. That will be the third centre-forward they’ve lost in three years.

It will also mean he misses a friendly against his former club, Basel, which the Spanish side have just announced. He joined from the Swiss side last summer.

Interestingly, Everton manager David Moyes has been reported to be in Miami this summer also. Reports in the UK have stated he was busy taking in Club World Cup games from a base in the city while actively working on transfers. The fact that Barry is also there this summer is perhaps not a coincidence.

Everton are also scheduled to take part in a US based pre-season tournament alongside Bournemouth, West Ham United and Manchester United next month.

Either way, there is confidence the deal for the striker will be done sooner rather than later, with him waiting in America for it to be concluded.
