Over the past few weeks, the Dutch media have covered Brentford’s pursuit of Feyenoord’s Antoni Milambo, which has felt like it could turn into a saga.
On June 6th, 1908.nl stated Brentford had made an initial offer of €19m plus €3m in bonuses for the attacking midfielder.
Three days ago, the same outlet stated the Bees are close to reaching an agreement with Feyenoord for the 20-year-old.
A fresh report from 1908.nl claims Brentford are at an ‘advanced stage’ to sign Milambo.
He’s currently with the Netherlands U21s at the ongoing UEFA U21 championship and had a chat with Voetbal International, with 1908.nl relaying his comments.
The attacking midfielder has insisted he wants to focus on Jong Oranje but his agent can call him if there’s a transfer development.
“That I just focus on the European championship. He can call me if there is anything, but I want to focus on here and I still have a contract with Feyenoord,” he said.
Earlier claims had stated the Dutchman made a trip to London to visit Brentford, where they gave him a tour of their facilities and convinced him to move to England.
The player has now left it in the hands of his agent to sort out his future.
“I did go and see what it is. I know it’s in London and that there have been many players who were sold again for a certain amount, but other than that I’m not really concerned with what is happening at Brentford,” Milambo explained.
“Of course I see what the media says, but I told my agent that I don’t want to have anything to do with it. That they have to fix it and just keep me informed. I just have to do my thing here and not get distracted.”
Milambo managed seven goals and eight assists from 42 games for the Dutch club in the recently concluded season.
