Marcelino Núñez has been a regular for Norwich City this season, with35 games.
He contributed 10 goals [six goals and four assists] for Norwich City despite operating in the middle of the pitch and at times as a defensive midfielder.
The 25-year-old’s performances for Norwich City apparently weren’t enough for him to be called up for recent squads. La Roja manager Ricardo Gareca left him out of the squad since September, but that could change now.
Chilean newspaper La Tercera claims ‘there will be a key call up’ in the current squad, and it’s Norwich City player. He’s set to be included for Chile’s World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Bolivia in June.
The Canaries finished the 2024/25 Championship season in 14th spot and the South American is already back in his home country. The report states he has been training at the Complejo Deportivo Juan Pinto Durán, which is the national team’s training complex.
Núñez was left out for the matches against Paraguay and Ecuador in March. There wasn’t an official confirmation, but La Tercera indicate he was struggling with a physical problem.
The Norwich City midfielder’s return to the Chile squad should be made official in the next few hours, when Gareca announces his squad later today.
