Caleb Okoli joined Leicester City in the summer transfer window and after being a regular for many weeks, he wasn’t in the starting XI for the past couple of games.
Earlier in the campaign, he was called up to the Italian national side but he was missing from the recent Azzurri squad.
While that comes as a disappointment for the defender, his agent Alessandro Barison has made it clear that there is a lot of satisfaction about the move to Leicester.
In a chat with OkCalciomercato, Barison said: “The boy wanted to have a different experience from Atalanta, he wanted to play more because he’s a young boy and he also wanted to aspire to the national team, which then thanks to his performances arrived.
“Spalletti followed him to Leicester and decided to call him up. Up until now, moving to England has been the right choice.”
He also spoke about how the move to the King Power came about, revealing that an intermediary played a key role in the transfer.
“His summer was quite eventful, because the boy had markets in Italy, France, Germany , Spain and England.
“His dream was to go to the Premier League, this call from Leicester arrived through an intermediary and he didn’t think twice. In five days the deal was closed and the clubs immediately reached an agreement.”
Okoli has played ten times in all competitions so far for Steve Cooper’s side and has shown glimpses of his ability.
He’ll hope to build on that and then return to the Italian national set-up in a longer term role.
