According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray have stepped up in their pursuit for Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.

The former England international has been linked with a transfer to Gala during this transfer window as they look to sign an experienced right back before next week’s Super Lig deadline.

Galatasaray reporter Yakup Çınar has spoken to Haber Sarikirmizi and he claims Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is personally involved in transfer talks with the Newcastle United player.

Çınar also reports Trippier would be interested in a move to Istanbul after previously being linked with Besiktas in the summer.

“Mr. Okan had a meeting with Kieran Trippier. The player is keen to come to Galatasaray,” said the Turkish journalist.

Since the departure of Serge Aurier in the summer, the right back spot has become a problem for the Istanbul side. Subsequently, Gala have been monitoring a number of right-side defenders in this transfer window, and it seems Trippier could be their desired solution.

Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters has also been strongly linked with Cimbom in the past week, and he’s out of contract with the Saints this summer.

Trippier is contracted to Newcastle United until June 2026.
