Leeds United have a firm interest in signing Barcelona defender Junior Firpo this summer.

On July 1st, Mundo Deportivo reported the talks between the two clubs are ‘advanced’ and it’s only a ‘matter of days’ before the left-back’s move to England is completed.

Later that day, we relayed claims made by Sport that the operation has been made complicated due to the ‘payment method’. That’s because Junior’s former club, Real Betis, are entitled to receive 20 percent of the transfer fee.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a short report explaining that ‘the agreement is total’ between Barca and Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the 24-year-old’s transfer, and the deal to take him to Leeds has been ‘closed for €15m’.

The newspaper states ‘only some administrative procedures are missing’ for the Dominican and his family to complete their arrival in England.

It’s claimed Junior was very tempted to join AC Milan before Leeds arrived at the scene for his signing.

With the agreement between the two sides already in place, the player should seal a switch to the Premier League once the ‘administrative procedures’ are completed.

That is likely related to a work permit.
