Barcelona are hopeful of completing Junior Firpo’s move to Leeds United this week as they ramp up their exit operation.

That’s according to Sport, who say the club are determined to move players out of the squad as quickly as possible.

They are ‘hopeful’ of being able to finalise Firpo’s move to Elland Road as a result, with him likely to be the first to leave.

The newspaper reports that the ‘pre-agreement’ is complete, but the operation is complicated by the ‘payment method’.

That’s because his former club, Real Betis, are still owed 20% of the deal, and that reduces what Barcelona will receive. Betis would presumably want their cut all in one go.

They’ve always prioritised getting as much as possible from a sale, and that is why Leeds have raced to the front of the queue ahead of sides in Italy, who wouldn’t put money on the table.

Firpo has also been ‘convinced’ to join the project at Leeds and work under Marcelo Bielsa, despite having initially had no interest in moving to the Premier League.
