Liverpool are keen on Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella to strengthen their midfield, according to calims coming out Italy.

The Reds saw Georginio Wijnaldum leave Anfield as a free agent and complete a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and the Dutchman’s departure has left void in the centre of the pitch.

Jürgen Klopp’s side have linked with a handful of midfielders this summer and the latest name added to that list is the Italy international.

These details are reported by journalist Enrico Camelio during Calciomercato.it’s program ‘Calciomercato Show’.

According to Camelio, the Merseyside club ‘have asked for information’ about signing the 24-year-old.

The Serie A winners are close to completing the sale of Achraf Hakimi’s sale to PSG and they will have to make another sale to ease of their financial situation.

However, that won’t be the former Cagliari man because for the Nerazzurri, the player ‘cannot be transferred’. Therefore, Camelio states Liverpool’s initial approach for Barella ‘ended there’, after Inter made clear he’s ‘not transferable’.

Despite that, Inter’s need for funds is real and if they can’t get it elsewhere then Barella will be an option, so Liverpool will need to fight.
