Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer has told the Dutch media he would be interested in a return to his former club Feyenoord.

The 27-year-old spent just two seasons with the Rotterdam giants but failed to make an impact during his time there.

Speaking to 1908.nl, the Sheffield United player was asked about the possibility of playing for Feyenoord again after his brief spell with them early in his career.

Hamer said he follows the Dutch club and still has a passion for them. The Brazil-born midfielder went on to say he hopes he can return to the club in the future.

“Feyenoord is still my club, and I watch every game. I think it’s a shame that they sometimes have peaks and troughs, because I see them playing against AC Milan and then they really do fantastic again. Only then they’re unhappy with the matches after that. I would really like to end up at Feyenoord myself. That would be really great,” said the Blades player.

Despite his desire to play for Feyenoord again in the future it’s likely Hamer will want another opportunity to play in the Premier League. He was one of the south Yorkshire side’s standout players last season but couldn’t help them avoid relegation back to the Championship.

However, Sheffield Untied have a great opportunity to return to the English top-flight and are currently second in the Championship table.

Hamer has made 28 appearances this season, scoring six goals. He’s contracted to the Blades until June 2027.
