Even though João Cancelo’s transfer from Manchester City to Barcelona continues to be seen as nearly done, there are now some changes being reported by the Spanish media.
When speaking of the move earlier this week, it had been claimed that the fullback would join the Camp Nou side on a loan deal, with a buying option worth €25m, which would be automatically triggered in case they qualify for the Champions League’s knock-out stage.
Now as Marca feature a new story on the transfer, they claim Barcelona will actually have no option to buy Cancelo from Manchester City.
The outlet makes it clear that the fullback will be a Barça player in the ‘coming days’, as the agreement for the move is ‘total’.
It’s explained that Barcelona don’t want to have their hands tied to a deal, and prefer to leave the decision to the end of the season. They want to see how he does at the club and then evaluate how much they’d pay for the permanent transfer.
With Cancelo out of Pep Guardiola’s plans, Manchester City continue to have a difficult time selling him. Following his loan spell at Bayern Munich last season, it seems he could once again be back in England next summer.
