For the past few days, reports from Italy have explained that Manchester United director of football operations David Harrison and Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio have had meetings in Ibiza over a deal for André Onana.
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed the Red Devils’ interest in the goalkeeper and Alfredo Pedullà now states the Serie A side are ‘waiting for the first offer’ from Manchester United.
It’s stated Erik ten Hag wants the 27-year-old ‘at all costs’ and Manchester United have to table a bid that includes a €50m fixed fee for the Nerazzurri to accept it.
The Premier League side are in the process of changing owners and this would impact their summer business.
After deciding to spend big on Chelsea’s Mason Mount, it’s stated Manchester United don’t have an ‘unlimited budget’ to sign a striker and a stopper. Therefore, it’s claimed they have offered Ten Hag Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow as a cheaper alternative to Onana.
Bijlow as an option for the Old Trafford club is also mentioned in the Dutch and UK press.
Despite these claims, Gazzetta dello Sport say Ten Hag has ‘reassured’ the Cameroonian that Manchester United ‘will do everything’ to sign him in this window.
After the two parties came to an agreement over personal terms, it’s claimed Inter could receive the ‘first offer’ from Manchester United for Onana at the start of this week.
The report adds ‘news from Manchester is expected’ today on the Onana case.
