Deportivo de La Coruña’s David Mella is very unlikely to be joining Brighton and Hove Albion this summer, as he doesn’t even know where Brighton is.
That’s according to his teammate Hugo Rama, who has insisted his teammate won’t be going anywhere.
Mella has been linked with a move to Brighton over the last week or so, with it reported that they were eyeing up a €4m cheap deal for him.
The idea was quickly dismissed in Spain, with subsequent reports making it clear that neither the club nor the player were particularly interested in a transfer this summer and were more focused on him staying and getting a renewal signed.
That’s not killed off the idea completely, though, with Deportivo fans still waiting to see what happens around the 19-year-old in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, Mella recently appeared on an Instagram live, in which one of the comments was about his potential move to Brighton this summer.
He didn’t respond to that, but teammate Hugo Rama had no such problem doing so, and was clear as can be in his sentiments on the matter.
“Why the hell is he going to Brighton if he doesn’t even know where it is,” he posted in response to the comment on the video.
It seems, then, at least in the Deportivo locker room, this rumour is a nonstarter, although if Mella secures himself a map, perhaps that will change.
