Paris Saint-Germain will face Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday. They won the treble last season and will be looking at add another trophy to their cabinet.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was one of the standout players for PSG and his fine displays have attracted interest from several clubs, including Chelsea.

That’s according to L’Equipe, and they cover Chelsea’s interest in a report that focuses on his contract situation.

The goalkeeper is in his final year of contract and has expressed his wish to continue at the Parc des Princes.

L’Equipe states the Italy international currently earns €850,000 gross per month. His entourage have long been negotiating the renewal and PSG advisor Luis Campos made an offer.

PSG have offered him a deal that will include a ‘fixed salary supplemented by a variable portion [calculated in particular based on the number of games played] that can represent up to a third of his [current] income’.

In other words, the 26-year-old has to take a pay cut to commit his long-term future. The report states the two parties have decided to revisit his renewal after the Club World Cup.

The former AC Milan man’s priority is to continue in Paris, but ‘not under any conditions’. This suggests he may not be pleased with PSG’s proposal.

At this moment in time, Donnarumma’s future remains uncertain and is of interest to several clubs. Chelsea are the only club named in the report.

The stopper has kept 17 clean sheets and conceded 40 goals from 46 games last season. L’Equipe state he’s the favourite to win the Yashin Trophy [best goalkeeper award] and they, somewhat unlikely, claim he’s a contender to win the Ballon d’Or.

If Chelsea are keen on signing him, they can capitalise on the uncertainty at PSG and convince Donnarumma to join them.
