Borussia Monchengladbach sports director Nils Schmadtke has admitted “you never know what’s coming” as defender Nico Elvedi continues to be linked with a move to Wolves.
The Borussia director has been speaking to Kicker regarding the German side’s current squad and how that may end up being reshaped in the coming weeks.
One major departure could be Elvedi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Wolves this summer.
His contract is set to expire in 2024 and reports have made it clear that Wolves want him, with a recent claim that he had approved the switch and so had his girlfriend.
Kicker follow that up and state the Switzerland defender ‘can very well imagine a change’ this summer and Wolves ‘in particular’ are keen on him.
Indeed, according to their information, Julen Lopetegui’s side are ready to pay a fee high single digit million range to secure his signature.
Whether the price they offer corresponds to what Borussia are looking for remains to be seen but Schmadtke admits talks are ongoing when asked about the defender.
“We are satisfied with the squad as it stands now. We have no acute need for action, nor do we have to do anything,” he said.
“You never know what’s coming. We are in talks with Nico. The outcome is open.”
