An old face should be returning to the Liberty Stadium soon. Swansea City have reportedly won the race for Nélson Oliveira from Benfica.

According to the Tuesday edition of Portuguese newspaper A Bola, there’s an agreement in principle so the player can move to the Premier League side permanently.

They say the announcement should be made soon, and it only wouldn’t happen in the case something goes wrong in the next few hours.

Oliveira spent the last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, who were said to be the biggest competitors for the signing. However, A Bola says that Swansea’s offer was more attractive.

During the past few months, we’ve also covered stories which claimed that Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday were interested in the signing.

Oliveira finished the last season with nine goals in 29 Championship games. During his spell at Swansea in 2014/15, he only scored one goal in 11 appearances.

Benfica are now expected to get a percentage of a future sale after the player moves to the Premier League side.
