Donny van de Beek was one of the standout performers for Ajax last season, scoring 17 goals and registering 13 assists in all competitions.

The attacking midfielder has continued his impressive form into this season as he has three goals and six assists to his name so far.

FcInterNews claims Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan were interested in the 22-year-old in the summer, but Ajax’s demand of €80m made cost of the operation high for potential suitors.

The Netherlands international’s contract with the Eredivisie winners runs down in 2021, which is why the report explains it will be easier for clubs to make an approach for him next summer.

Ajax are working on extending Van de Beek’s contract until 2023, but they could also be satisfied to extend by one more year. Even if a new deal is signed, it’s stated there could be a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ inserted, which would make a summer move possible at a reasonable price.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has kept contacts alive with the Dutchman’s agent as the Nerazzurri are keen on the Dutchman. Apart from the Serie A side, Spurs and Manchester United remain ‘very interested’ in the player.

Despite failing to sign Van de Beek in the summer, the north London club have still maintained their interest in the player.

Any approach from Tottenham for the Ajax star will see them face competition from others.
