West Ham United may have shown a willingness to pay €15m for Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez this summer, but he has other plans for his future.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the defender is yet to agree to any move despite Real Sociedad pushing to sign him for the best part of a month.
The newspaper explains that Sociedad are yet to confirm any transfer business this summer, a surprising situation given their pre-season starts in just one day’s time.
A deal to sign Sergio Gómez from Manchester City has been delayed, despite the club being willing to sign him and him interested in the move too.
The door remains open to him, with reports in England stating that Manchester City are already looking for a replacement, and there is optimism that they will get their man as he’s not accepted other offers.
AC Milan, Roma, Real Betis and West Ham are named as potential options for him and two of those have shown a willingness to pay the €15m that Manchester City are asking for. Who the two are isn’t made explicitly clear but West Ham could be one of them.
Either way, Gómez hasn’t joined any of them and appears to be waiting for Real Sociedad, who are in no hurry to get a deal done, particularly because he’s taking part in the Olympics, which will delay his arrival anyway.
That would suggest West Ham have got a window to try and steal a march on Sociedad, if they are interested, although they may need to convince Gómez first.
