On Wednesday morning, a couple of reports from Italy highlighted that amid AC Milan’s efforts to give Ismael Bennacer a new contract, there’s interest from Liverpool.
Website Tutto Mercato Web claimed that the player himself is ‘keeping an eye’ on the Reds, where Jurgen Klopp is a ‘great admirer’ of his. Meanwhile, Calcio Mercato said the Anfield side ‘really think about’ signing the player from the Rossoneri.
It turns out that as Corriere Dello Sport writes about Bennacer’s contract situation, they also give Liverpool a mention.
It’s first claimed that talks for this new deal should start in ‘a few days’, when the player returns from a break. Even though he recently changed agents, it’s still believed he’ll have the last word regarding renewing the contract, which expires in 2024.
What could convince Bennacer of leaving Milan is interest from abroad, and that’s where Liverpool comes in, as the ‘latest market rumours’ claim the player may have received an offer from the Reds.
Meanwhile, other Premier League sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the 24-year-old, and that could apparently spoil his renewal talks with the Serie A giants.
Obviously, it’s rather convenient for him that all this interest is being reported just before he starts renewal talks… so it’s worth keeping that in mind.
