One of the hottest Italian properties on the market, Federico Chiesa is likely to be one of the stories of the summer, with some Premier League clubs thrown into the mix for good measure.
Likely to remain in his home country but improving his club, the young forward could surprise everyone and move abroad, where, if he’s ready, Liverpool appear ready to welcome him.
That’s what Gazzetta dello Sport suggest on Thursday, stating that ‘those who are well informed’ assure that Jürgen Klopp and co. have already made an enquiry regarding the 21-year-old.
Considering Liverpool have been looking to bolster their attack/midfield creativity in the past, with players such as Nabil Fékir targeted, purchasing Chiesa would certainly add what they are looking for, yet it would come at a price.
Much like the Frenchman, any deal would cost upwards of £50m, as Gazzetta believe Fiorentina will want at least €70m for their starlet.
That seems a lot for a player who might not start every game at Anfield with the attack prowess already at Klopp’s disposal, and with no indication that Liverpool are set to return following their enquiry, perhaps they’ve just thought there’s cheaper options out there.
For that, we’ll have to wait and see.
