Enzo Maresca’s strong relationship with Sevilla could lead him back to the club this summer from Leicester City, with the Italian very much on their list of managerial targets.
That’s according to journalist Miguel Ruiz, who covers Maresca in detail today amid reports he’s on Sevilla’s list of potential new managers for the summer.
Several reports in Spain have indicated Maresca is being looked at by Sevilla after impressing with Leicester in the Championship this season.
The Spanish side are likely to be on the hunt for a new manager in the summer despite Quique Sanchez Flores having managed to stable matters at the club since his arrival.
They want to go in a different direction and Maresca, who has stabilised Leicester this season and got them playing entertaining football, is on the list of options.
He has ties to the club and Ruiz explains this comes from his playing days, when he was a ‘very beloved’ player during his time there.
The ‘affection’ for the player at the club is great among the fanbase and he shares that, showing a love for the city, the club and his former teammate Antonio Puerta, who died in 2007.
That ‘attachment’ he has, has not been forgotten and it is that which makes a move this summer a possibility, despite his contract with Leicester.
The belief is that attachment and the fact the Sevilla job ‘would open the doors of La Liga’ for him mean the move is very much possible, and one Sevilla are looking at seriously.
