Having spent last season on loan at Marseille, Nuno Tavares eventually returned to Arsenal, where talk of an exit has been rife.
The defender never seemed to fully convince Mikel Arteta when he was playing for the Gunners, regardless of how much he was used in his first season there, which was more out of need than anything else.
That’s why he was shipped off to Marseille by Arsenal, and a rumour appeared claiming that Paris Saint-Germain could now be looking at him, which has since been debunked by RMC Sport.
The story emerged after Nuno Mendes was ruled out with an injury, meaning they would need some cover at left-back, and that’s how Tavares was named.
RMC Sport, however, state that this is completely ‘unfounded’, and the Portuguese defender is not ‘in the sights’ of the Ligue 1 champions.
Therefore, it seems that Arsenal will have to try and find another taker for the left-back, unless he somehow manages to show Arteta he can be of use in the coming weeks during pre-season.
