Spanish newspaper Marca report in their Tuesday edition that Pau Lopez’s transfer to Tottenham has turned up the speed. They say a new approach from Tottenham has led to an urgency on Espanyol’s side to get a replacement in.
That sounds pretty much like what the previous offer was, after the flat €2m straight transfer offer was refused, but perhaps there are conditions which make the permanent deal a more likely step.
It’s claimed a move is ‘almost closed’ after advances in the last hours, and it very much sounds like a move is expected. The pressure from Tottenham has helped, and now they have to complete things.
But even though it’s ‘almost closed’, Marca don’t seem to know why. There just seems an assumption that after Espanyol somewhat capitulated on their demands, that a deal now has to be done quickly.
The transfer isn’t completed yet and Pau continues to train with Espanyol.
