The League Cup, or EFL Cup as it’s known this year, is the perfect opportunity to give youngsters a chance, and it appears Pep Guardiola has caught on to that quite quickly.
Both Brahim Diaz and Pablo Maffeo have been included by the Spanish manager in his squad ahead of their clash against Swansea, as well as Tosin Adarabioyo, Angelino and Aleix Garcia.
This means leaving a few experienced players behind, but if Brahim Diaz’s agent is to be believed, Manchester City fans shouldn’t worry.
La Opinion de Malaga have a feature on the youngster ahead of his potential start for the Premier League club, and they’re quite excited.
Moving from Malaga to Manchester City aged 13, the youngster has clearly impressed enough since Guardiola’s arrival, which doesn’t surprise his agent, Jaime, who gave a brief outline of what his little protégé can do.
He said: “People ask me if he’s right-footed or left-footed, and I tell them he’s both.”
The former Malaga star also explained Diaz’s strong points were his “dribbling, ability one on one, his technique, his humility, but also how much he works off the ball to get it back.”
We’re not going to lie, he sounds like the perfect Pep Guardiola youngster.
We’ll have to see if he lives up to his agent’s hype, won’t we?
