In need of reinforcements this summer after finishing 10th in Ligue 1, Lyon are scouring the market for opportunities.
One has led them to Southampton, where a number of players are seeking an exit after the club returned to the Championship after many years in the Premier League.
Among those looking to leave the Saints is Duje Caleta-Car, who knows the French league well from his time at Marseille, and Foot Mercato claim Lyon are after him.
He would find Dejan Lovren at the club, which could be an extra incentive, and the new head of recruitment poached from Marseille, Matthieu Louis-Jean, has turned his attention to Caleta-Car.
It’s said the Southampton defender ‘ticks all the boxes’ that Laurent Blanc has asked for when bringing forward the type of player he wants signed, and they add that the defender ‘could be tempted’ by a return to France.
Regarding the asking price, the belief is Southampton will ask for around €10m, which was the fee they paid Marseille in the first place to acquire him last summer.
