Southampton are chasing Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko, according to Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger.
The striker clocked in 613 minutes from 20 league games last season, scoring five goals in the process.
On Sunday, his agent Patrick Williams criticised BVB for not utilising the 19-year-old in the right way and even talked about taking his client away from the club.
Berger picks up on that and says Southampton are one of the clubs keen on signing Moukoko, who ‘wants to leave’ the Bundesliga side this summer.
The Germany international has a contract at Dortmund lasting until 2026 and it’s not clear at this moment in time whether he’ll leave on loan or a permanent transfer. This will be sorted out next week, depending on the player’s situation and the interested parties.
Southampton, Girona, Real Betis, Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Stade Rennais are all keen to sign the young player. His preference is to move away from the Bundesliga, which is why a move to FC St. Pauli has been ruled out.
Moukoko wants to join a club where he can enjoy regular minutes. The Saints could be a solution for the attacker, as long as Russell Martin can offer him more game time next season.
