There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Southampton goalkeeper Mateusz Lis will be returning to Goztepe in this transfer window.
The Polish keeper spent last season on loan with the Turkish side, helping them to seal promotion to the Super Lig.
Yeni Asir report on Goztepe’s pursuit for Lis and they say Southampton have given the green light for him to return on loan. It’s claimed an agreement is in place and it’s expected he will arrive in Turkey soon.
There have been recent reports the player has been keen to re-join the Super Lig side, but the Saints were hesitant as they’d received offers from other clubs.
Southampton and the Izmir side are both owned by the Sports Republic group which has also led to Kuryu Matsuki being loaned to Goztepe. The Japanese midfielder recently arrived at Southampton from FC Tokyo.
Lis made 31 appearances for Goztepe last season, and clearly feels he has a future there. The goalkeeper joined Southampton on a five-year deal in 2022, arriving on a free transfer.
