Hannover 96’s Josh Knight is set to complete a move to Portsmouth FC this summer, according to claims from Germany.

Knight joined Hannover 96 as a free agent last summer, after leaving Peterborough United at the end of 2023/24 season.

The defender has entered his final year of contract with the German club, with an option for another year. He’s now set to return to England to join Portsmouth.

According to Sky Deutschland, Pompey have reached an agreement in principle to sign the centre-back for €1m plus bonuses.

Bild backs up the defender’s impending move to Fratton Park and also provides additional updates on this case.

It’s claimed the second division German club have already released the player to carry out negotiations and medical tests with John Mousinho’s side.

The report makes no mention of Portsmouth’s agreement with Hannover 96 but do point out that they are expected to make Knight’s signing official in the ‘next few hours’.

Both Sky Deutschland and Bild don’t mention the 27-year-old agreeing personal terms with the Championship club. This is likely to have been sorted out between the parties.

Knight played 24 games for Hannover 96 last season, scoring three times.
