Southampton are making a move for Toulouse’s Zakaria Aboukhal as they look to strengthen before the end of the window.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Southampton are eyeing up the Moroccan forward, although they are yet to make an official offer.
They report that Southampton have ‘come to the news’ regarding the player. In other words, they’ve come forward and shown an interest.
No official offer has been made as yet but discussions about a transfer should take place soon. That’s not a surprise given deadline day is just around the corner.
There’s no mention of what Southampton would be willing to pay for the striker, who has 18 goals and five assists In 58 games for the French side so far.
He joined them in a €2m deal from AZ Alkmaar in July 2022 but saw last season ruined by a major knee injury that required surgery and saw him spend 175 days on the treatment table, missing 39 games for club and country.
If he joined Southampton, he’d add to a forward line that already boasts Adam Armstrong, Cameron Archer, Paul Onuachu and Ross Stewart.
The Saints need to make an official offer first, which reports in France believe is coming sooner rather than later.
