If DZ Foot in Algeria are to be believed, Southampton are on the verge of recruiting a new head of scouting in Chérif Oudjani.

According to the outlet, the former RC Lens scout and Lille reserves assistant manager is in ‘advanced negotiations’ for the role.

DZ Foot state the Saints ‘really appreciated’ Oudjani’s choices, and are ‘counting enormously’ on his outlook to try and bring a few gems to the club in the future.

If that is the case, as the website point out, there are few better places than Southampton for a scout to see his work rewarded, as the Premier League side are known to give their youngsters a chance.

Prior to his work off the football pitch, Oudjani had a lengthy football career, spanning around 20 years, spending all of it in France at clubs like Lens, RC Paris and Valenciennes FC.

He retired in 2002 after a year with Stade Bethune, picking up 10 caps for Algeria in which he scored two goals for his country.
