We’ve all witnessed a fair amount of twists and turns in the situation of Celtic’s Matt O’Riley.
The impressive midfielder is still at the club and there now seems to have been a fresh twist in the situation, as there is a suggestion that Celtic may have altered their price tag for the Danish star.
This comes from TMW, who state that Atalanta’s move for O’Riley is still ‘stuck’ as La Dea’s offer remains at €25m plus bonuses of €2m.
The gap between the parties has narrowed but Celtic have given ‘no answer’ about the latest approach.
On top of that, a source has told the outlet that the Hoops have, entertainingly for anyone following the situation, increased their asking price to what could be as high as €35m, with a base fee of €30m.
If that is true, the gap between the two clubs is likely to be significant and could potentially ruin La Dea’s chances of getting their man.
One positive for Atalanta is that O’Riley is said to have given his full ‘availability’ to them despite interest from Brighton, and this could later prove to be an important part of the saga.
For now, it does seem as if Celtic are enjoying having Atalanta on strings.
