Barcelona and Lyon settled for a goalless draw in the first leg of the last 16 Champions League tie at the Groupama Stadium on Tuesday.
Ernesto Valverde started Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembélé and despite boasting a strong attack on paper, the La Liga winners failed to score during their trip to France.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport takes a look at the former Liverpool star’s situation, which includes a goal drought in the last 16 away matches in European competition.
The Uruguay international’s last away goal in the Champions League was in September 2015 against AS Roma and he’s now gone 1507 minutes without finding the back of the net.
Sport even go on to mention that it ‘seems a thing of witches’, which is why the South American has struggled over the years.
The worse thing for Suarez is his recent form has also been poor, as he’s not scored in the past five matches played in all competitions and has only two goals to his name in the past 10 games.
Barca would be concerned with the striker’s poor run for more than three years and Suarez would be keen to end the drought, as there’s increasing amounts of blame going his way.
Having failed to score an away goal against Lyon, the pressure will be on Barcelona in the return leg at the Camp Nou.
