Rúben Amorim to Manchester United is a foregone conclusion, but the end of the mini saga is starting to get a little bitter.

Sir Dave Brailsford telling fans outside Old Trafford the agreement was “done, done, done” on Wednesday evening hasn’t gone down very well and there’s some negativity creeping into the Portuguese media.

Sporting CP know they’re losing their manager, and several of their coaches, but they don’t want to be seen to lose pride at the same time.

A Bola report there’s no divorces which turn out happy and  Sporting ‘will have a hard time forgetting’ about what’s supposedly gone on.

They explain Amorim ‘can’t wait to travel’ to England to complete his move to Manchester United, and take up his ‘new passion’. They’re presenting it like the manager is leaving for another woman.

There’s also worry, prompted by claims in the UK media and general assumptions, that Amorim will return to Sporting in the not so distant future to take one or more of the club’s stars away.

Whilst the end of this relationship is taking a turn for the bitter, surely it’ll all be looked back on more fondly in the future.
