Last month, we covered claims from Germany which stated Manchester City have included Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson in their target list.

On March 5th, SportBild reported the Citizens are using agent Giovanni Branchini as an intermediary to convince the 21-year-old to pick them over Bayern Munich. Branchini was quick to deny his involvement in this operation.

Manchester City, however, continue to maintain interest in the attacking midfielder.

That’s according to Sky Deutschland, and they cover the English club when discussing his situation and Bayern Munich interest.

The Germany international has scored 15 goals and registered 13 assists from 39 games this season. He has a contract lasting until 2027 and Xabi Alonso’s side want to offer him an extension.

Bayer Leverkusen have proposed a new contract to their star, and it will include a release clause that will come into effect in 2026. He hasn’t accepted yet and is hesitating to sign an extension.

If he were to look for an exit in the summer window, Sky explain the Bundesliga winners will only be willing to negotiate for €120m plus bonuses.

Bayern Munich have been in talks with the player’s camp for a while, but Sky warn them to ‘watch out’ for Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have identified Wirtz as the ‘top target’ for the next window.
