While it might have gone quiet over the past few weeks, the idea that Everton could be interested in Hirving Lozano has been rife enough to warrant an update on the player’s situation at Napoli.

Struggling to adapt to Serie A following his big move from PSV Eindhoven, the Mexican star failed to convince under both Carlo Ancelotti and then Gennaro Gattuso, which led to talk about a potential exit this summer.

Seeing as he was transferred last summer at the Everton manager’s request, rumours about him being sent to Goodison Park in exchange for a hefty fee didn’t take long to emerge, and they stuck.

If the Toffees are indeed interested, then their chance to pounce may have come around.

Despite coming off the bench on Tuesday night against Hellas Verona and scoring his side’s second in a 2-0 win during a six minute cameo, Lozano wants to leave Naples, and according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, asked his agent, Mino Raiola, to find him a new club.

The Italian newspaper explain Lozano was ‘kicked out of training’ by Gattuso last Monday, which led him to ask Raiola ‘to move on the market’.

That’s where things stand with Lozano, and while there are no Everton name drops in this particular article, we felt it was important enough to update you all about his request to be transferred.

Then again, we’re sure that Marcel Brands will know about it already…
