Atalanta star Éderson was linked with a move to Newcastle United in the winter market.
On February 2nd, TuttoMercatoWeb stated the Magpies were ready to offer €40m for the 24-year-old and had repeatedly ‘tried to force’ the Serie A side’s hand, but they weren’t successful.
As well as Éderson, Newcastle had also failed in their efforts to sign his teammate, Teun Koopmeiners.
That’s at least what Il Bianconero are reporting, and they mentioned the Magpies when explaining Juventus interest.
Juventus would need at least €50m to secure the Dutchman’s services, considering La Dea didn’t entertain Newcastle’s offer in the winter market.
It’s claimed that a few weeks ago, Atalanta ‘rejected a proposal’ of £40m [€47m] made by Eddie Howe’s side for Koopmeiners, which presumably started with a loan to ease finances. The January window was the ‘least suitable’ for La Dea as they didn’t want to let one of their stars leave midway through the season.
Any club interested in signing Koopmeiners will need around €60m, according to the Italian claims. In other words, Newcastle have to raise their offer by €13m in the summer, to maintain a hope of acquiring his signature.
