Back in April, when West Ham United placed a couple of offers for Corinthians youngster Wesley, reports from Brazil said a lot more would be needed for a deal.
With the Hammers bidding €15m and then €18m for the signing, his club seemed to be going crazy by demanding €25-30m, and we explained as much at the time.
Now as journalist Jorge Nicola shares a video talking about the situation, it sounds like Corinthians may regret turning down West Ham’s offers.
It’s said at the time of the rejection, there was someone close to the president claiming Bayern Munich would offer at least €25m for the player.
That’s the reason Borussia Dortmund, who claimed they could pay €25m, didn’t even place their bid, as Corinthians were being very tough with their demands.
Unsurprisingly, Bayern Munich never showed up with that amount. And West Ham ended up signing Luis Guilherme for a total package of €30m.
Not long ago, it was claimed the Hammers could even return for Wesley. And in case they do, it’s very likely they can get good conditions now, because Corinthians are in need of money and know that magical offer won’t arrive.
