Earlier on Monday, we covered an article claiming that Liverpool were one of the first clubs to come knocking for Patrick Dorgu, currently at Lecce.
The defender has long been seen as the right player to eventually take over from Andrew Robertson at Anfield, with his agent recently revealing that the Reds were in fact after him.
Well, whether Liverpool are one of the clubs that made a move this January for him isn’t said, but Lecce’s technical director Pantaleo Corvino has made it very clear to Calciomercato there are a lot of clubs after the young Denmark U21 international.
Asked if Milan were interested in the 19-year-old, he replied: “In January, I took written offers to the president that you couldn’t refuse. I should add that I had unbelievable unwritten requests. They were refused.”
Therefore, it appears that Lecce were always adamant on keeping Dorgu until at least the end of the current campaign, which makes a lot of sense.
This has been his main breakthrough season at the club in the first-team, and if he continues to play as well as he has done, his value will only go up.
That’s why Corvino was said to be rubbing his hands at the idea of a future transfer, with Liverpool clearly among those who are interested in signing the player down the line.
