The Argentine media is now sharing some updates on the physical situation of Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez.

As the centre-back had to get substituted during the match against West Ham United at the weekend, there’s been some concern about a potential serious knee injury.

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul now brings his own information, claiming there are ‘good news’ as the Manchester United player has a ‘strained collateral ligament’.

It’s said the ‘worst-case scenario is ruled out’, which would be a full ligament rupture.

According to Edul, Martinez will not need surgery, and it will take between a month and a half and two months to recovery.

A new injury for the defender is certainly a blow for Manchester United, but there should also be some relief that the issue isn’t very serious.

A foot injury had already left the defender out for most of the season, as he only took part in Manchester United’s last four games before this new injury.

In case Edul is right, Martinez should still be available for the final fixtures of the Premier League and the run in of what could be a very important time for Erik ten Hag.
