Despite being heavily used at Leeds United during his loan from Juventus, Weston McKennie was unable to achieve two targets.

The first was saving the Elland Road side from relegation to the Championship, and the second was impressing over the course of his time there.

This led to him returning to Juventus from Leeds, where he was put on the market before managing to convince Max Allegri to rely on him during pre-season, which has led to him being ‘reborn’, as explained by Gazzetta dello Sport.

They dedicate an article to the USA international on Monday, as his tally of goals for the season remains at zero, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t appreciated.

He was key in the 3-0 win over Lecce at the weekend, and gave ‘another performance as an all-round midfielder’, where he is capable of doing everything, including ‘running for two’.

McKennie is now a ‘completely different player’ to the one who left for Leeds United last January, where he went to ‘seek his fortune’.

He didn’t find it there, and returned to Juventus, where he is now an ‘immovable starter’ for Max Allegri, capable of helping out in his natural position in midfield, but also as a wing-back when needed, where he brings the same energy.

The rise continues for McKennie, as Leeds continue their bid to try and return to the Premier League, watching from afar as one of their flops manages to turn his career around at a big European club.
