On Thursday morning, Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport linked Newcastle United to Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
The outlet claimed that the Magpies are one of the clubs who’ve recently shown interest in the player, and the situation could only evolve after the Champions League final.
It turns out that with the rumours about Brozovic, his agent was asked to talk about it during an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.
Giovanni Branchini spoke to the outlet about many subjects, and when quizzed regarding the midfielder’s future, he claimed it’s still early to talk about it.
“To date, there’s nothing real on the market. There are negotiations on free agents, but many situations are still at stake, including when it comes to managers. It’s really early.”
Newcastle had already been linked to Brozovic a few months ago, and Gazzetta’s story this week reawakened that rumour.
It was claimed that Inter Milan wouldn’t mind seeing the player moving this summer, so that looks like a pretty good sign for the interested clubs.
Now since the Nerazzurri are completely focused on the Champions League final, it does make sense that they will not engage in talks for any of their players before that. So Newcastle have time to prepare their attempt.
