Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers could risk losing Matt O’Riley as Girona are keen on taking him away from Celtic Park in the winter market.
Earlier today, claims from the UK stated the Spanish club have set their sights on the 23-year-old. This is relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who then give their own take on this case.
The La Liga leaders are desperately looking for a new midfielder this month and the Celtic player is a ‘real option’ for them.
This, as per the report, is proved by the fact that Girona, together with their owners, the City Football Group, have ‘fully immersed themselves’ in negotiating a deal for O’Riley.
Brendan Rodgers’ side rejected a €10m bid last summer and this would indicate it won’t be easy for Girona to take the player away from Celtic Park.
However, Mundo have learnt that Celtic ‘are considering the proposal’ for the Dane.
The report states Girona continue to negotiate and there’s optimism of securing the Celtic player’s services in January. And it’s felt that if O’Riley were to arrive at the La Liga side, he would improve their team.
O’Riley has managed 10 goals and 10 assists from 28 games for Celtic this season.
