AEK Athens have made advances to try and sign Rangers’ Cyriel Dessers this summer.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a short, but important update.
Tavolieri claims the striker is keen on making a switch to the Greek club. He adds Athens have taken further steps and have sent an offer to Rangers for the 30-year-old.
The journalist adds Russell Martin’s side have rejected the bid, without mentioning the fee proposed by AEK Athens for the Belgium-born Nigeria international.
Dessers, Hamza Igamane and Danilo are the three strikers at Ibrox, and the latter, who can also be used on the wings, had a back up role last season.
Meanwhile, Lille are keen on signing the 22-year-old Morocco international this summer.
Last month, we covered claims from France which stated Igamane had reached a verbal agreement with the Ligue 1 club. They have to agree terms with Rangers, which hasn’t happened yet.
The Scottish club have a decision to make on whether to retain both strikers or sell one of Dessers and Igamane.
Dessers managed 29 goals and seven assists from 55 games last season.
