KR Reykjavík youngster Johannes Bjarnason has been the centre of attention in Iceland over the past few days and Rangers are now said to be interested in the 20-year-old.
The central midfielder has been a target for Serie C club Pro Vercelli and Icelandic media outlet MBL spoke to KR Reykjavik manager Óskar Hrafn about the talent’s future.
He confirmed that Bjarnason has rejected the Italian side, even if KR Reykjavík had accepted a bid. Now, the youngster’s situation is heating up. PrimaVercelli report the Iceland U21s star has been scouted by multiple Dutch clubs and is of interest to both Rangers and Genk.
They note that Bjarnason was not used by KR Reykjavík in their last league fixture against Akranes and this is a big hint that the talent will be sold soon. Pro Vercelli are still providing competition to Rangers and Genk in the chase, but there is no indication of KR Reykjavík’s asking price.
While the Icelandic press know that the player isn’t keen on the joining the Serie C outfit, the Italian media are still pushing the idea of a transfer. Bjarnason has scored scored six goals in 13 league games during the ongoing season, which has attracted Rangers.
