Rangers’ hopes of signing duo Kevin van Veen and Fredrik Oppegard in the January transfer window appear to be high as both are very much up for sale.

That’s according to MSN, relaying information from RTV Noord and journalist Rik Elfrink, who say there is a distinct possibility both could be bolstering Philippe Clement’s squad at Ibrox next month.

Reports in Scotland have linked Rangers with both players over the last week, with Clement and his team looking to add move attacking power to the squad after signing Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves.

That’s seen them eyeing a move for Van Veen, who has already proven himself in Scotland with Motherwell, where he scored 29 goals in 44 games earlier in his career.

He’s currently at Dutch side FC Groningen after returning to the Netherlands in the summer, but they’re more than open to a deal, as director Wouter Gudde revealed earlier this month.

“I talk to Kevin on the phone almost every day, but if there is interest because he is not playing, we will listen,” he is quoted as saying by the broadcaster.

“If another club makes a concrete offer and the solution is good, we will cooperate with a departure.”

MSN also add that the striker is currently still living in Scotland, where his partner recently gave birth to their first child, a fact which could be a boost for Rangers should they decide to move for him.

There’s also good news in terms of Oppegard too as, according to Elfrink, PSV Eindhoven are ‘open to a departure’ in January if the offer is right for them.

The 21-year-old has only featured once for the Dutch side this season, as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League, and thus they would be willing to allow a move to Ibrox if it’s offered.

That could see the youngster ‘run into someone he knows’ in the form of Nil Koppen, who worked as a scout at PSV for years and is set to take up the role of Director of Football Recruitment at Rangers from January 1st.

Whether it is he who is pushing for the move or Clement isn’t made clear but the idea is there nonetheless and the chances of him and Van Veen ending up at Ibrox next month seem distinctly high at this point.
