Aston Villa owners are in talks to buy a Brazilian club, according to reports from South America.

As first claimed by Carlos Berbert and then backed up by Correio Braziliense, V Sports are one of the contenders to purchase Vasco da Gama.

The Brazilian side are in a legal dispute against 777 Partners, who are expected to soon leave the business.

Both outlets highlight that V Sports are the owners of Aston Villa, pointing out the great season the club has had in the Premier League.

There are also other groups said to be in talks for the Rio de Janeiro side, though, so it may take a while before we get to know if Villa will have a partner club in Brazil.

Coincidentally enough, Vasco and Aston Villa have been in talks for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian media recently claimed that the friendly negotiations could result in the player having his contract with the English club rescinded, and then rejoin his former club for free this summer.

A relationship with Vasco could certainly help Aston Villa in the future, with it providing a route to Brazilian talents.
