Girona manager Michel has insisted he is yet to hear from Manchester City about Argentine youngster Claudio Echeverri and the prospect of him playing there in the near future.

That’s according to TNT Sports, who cover quotes from the Girona manager today and the prospect of Echeverri ending up at the Spanish club.

Girona are part of the City Football Group network of clubs headed up by Manchester City and have benefitted from that in recent years, with several players heading from the Etihad on loan.

Reports have suggested Echeverri could be the latest in that line of players after Manchester City moved to sign him in a €15m deal from River Plater earlier this year.

He’s set to join Manchester City at the end of the year, but reports have suggested that City may elect to send the youngster to Girona first to allow him to establish himself in Europe away from the Premier League.

That is something they’ve done with several youngsters signed from around the world, preferring to let them settle away from England first before potentially bringing them back to Manchester to bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad.

It seems Michel is yet to hear about that potentially happening, though, insisting he’s not heard from those above him in the network.

“To this day I cannot answer you,” he is quoted as saying.

“The City Group acquired him, but they have not given me details that we are going to have him with us.”
