Real Betis president Ángel Haro has admitted that West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals is “on the radar” at the club, but they haven’t moved for him yet.
The Betis president has been speaking to the press in Spain at the presentation of Johnny Cardoso, with his comments covered by Mundo Deportivo.
Fornals has been linked with a move away from West Ham this month after barely featuring under David Moyes this season.
His contract at the London Stadium expires in the summer and with no new contract planned, a sale would make sense for West Ham this month.
He’s subsequently been linked with clubs in Spain and Italy, with one today reporting that Napoli have ‘come forward decisively’ to try and sign the midfielder.
They appear to be leading the race for his signature, which would naturally be a blow to Betis, who have also been linked with a move and the prospect of reuniting the midfielder with Manuel Pellegrini.
They don’t appear to be making their move, though, with Haro admitting the West Ham man is on their list but that’s about it.
“For a player to arrive there must be departures, just for economic control, if we do not release the limit, there will be no arrival,” he said.
“Without talking about proper names, he (Fornals) is a player who has been on the radar. They are interesting, but we have nothing regarding this player.”
