Fiorentina may revive their idea of signing Tottenham forward Bryan Gil this month, after their first-choice target Cyril Ngonge, slipped through their fingers.

That’s according to La Nazione, who say the idea of moving for the Spaniard may ‘regain importance’ as the weeks develop.

Gil has again found himself linked with a move away from Tottenham this month after spending the last few months struggling to earn a regular place under Ange Postecoglou.

Fiorentina were one of those linked with a move, but it was felt they had discarded that idea as they were instead looking at a different option.

That option was Ngonge, but they’ve been dealt a blow on that front as Napoli ‘landed the blow’ and signed the winger ahead of them.

They simply offered more than Fiorentina could afford and he appears to be on his way to Naples, so those in charge of the Viola now have to turn their attention elsewhere.

They like Ruben Vargas as Augsburg, but Gil could also ‘regain importance’ for them if Tottenham are willing to sanction another loan move for him.

They’re yet to do that but the option is there for the Italian side, who, after abandoning the idea of a move may now try it again after missing out on their first choice.
