Earlier in the transfer window, there was a strong belief that Fiorentina were working hard to get a deal for Tottenham’s Bryan Gil done.

After all, the Spaniard isn’t playing a lot under Ange Postecoglou, but despite this, there appeared to be some reluctance from Spurs to let the player go on yet another temporary spell.

Well, all of this dilly-dallying from Tottenham appears to have pushed Fiorentina towards another target, as Gianluca Di Marzio and Calciomercato point out the Serie A side are now focusing on Cyril Ngonge at Hella Verona.

We already covered claims they were thinking twice about a move for the Premier League player, and now they appear to have moved on almost entirely.

Calciomercato state that Fiorentina’s Rocco Commisso has ‘enquired’ about three players, with those being Gil, Ngonge and Augsburg’s Ruben Vargas.

‘Reflections are in progress’ as they try to work out who the right profile is for them, but Gianlica Di Marzio reckon it’s the Verona man.

That’s because Fiorentina have made ‘new contacts’ for Ngonge, as they value a transfer for him for around €8-9m, while Verona want around €12-13m for their star man.

The two clubs are ‘trying to find a balance’, which suggests a move for Tottenham’s Gil, if it does take place, would only happen if this doesn’t happen.
