Real Betis have publicly expressed their desire to sign Manchester United’ Antony, after he impressed for them during his loan spell in the second half of last season.
The La Liga club haven’t found an agreement with the Red Devils for the winger, who isn’t part of Ruben Amorim’s plans. Their aim to wait until the end of this window to sign him on terms favourable to them.
Several claims in Spain reported on various formulas in which Real Betis want to sign the Manchester United player. To sum it up, they want him on loan, without any obligation to buy.
On August 4th, media local to Real Betis reported they’ll try to sign the 25-year-old on loan again towards the end of the window.
Estadio Deportivo now report there are plenty of signs to indicate the Brazil international wants to return to Real Betis. They claim he’s paid off rent on his home in Dos Hermanas, his domestic help and two rental cars.
The Spanish club have a non-EU slot and the No.7 shirt vacant for him. They are working on this deal, and Antony is waiting for Manchester United to accept their proposal. It may be possible that the Premier League club won’t accept their offer.
Real Betis right-back Ángel Ortiz played behind Antony last season. Estadio spoke to 21-year-old Spaniard, who remains hopeful the attacker returns to Andalusia.
“I think playing with Anthony or someone of his level was incredible for me. I think he made things much easier, and in the end, I just had to give it to him and run up the field because he did the rest,” he said.
“The truth is, playing with him again would be incredible. And I hope that during this transfer window, he can make it happen and continue bringing joy to the Betis fans, which will surely be incredible.”
Real Betis president Ángel Haro has been speaking to the Spanish media, who asked him about the Antony operation. El Desmarque have relayed his comments.
When asked if there’s a deadline set for this operation, he said: “We’ve been working since the beginning of the transfer window. It’s a complicated deal. We’re working, but it has to fit within our financial limits and our opinion of a balanced squad. If he does make it, we’ll make the deal. United also has a lot to say.”
Asked if he’s optimistic, Haro explained: “I’m the same as I was. It’s a complicated deal. I’m optimistic about Betis and Antony’s willingness, but I don’t know what Manchester United’s final position will be.”
